This is "The Sims 2" Macintosh OS X (universal binary) version created by Aspyr. This is not a wine windows emulator based (ie. crossover games) slow as shit thing - it is the real OS X deal. It contains all the expansions and stuff packs released for the Mac by Aspyr (it has most of the expansions of the windows version and some of the stuff packs). It is also supposed to be multi-lingual (depending on your Mac's regional settings I guess) but since I only use English software I cannot verify it. I guess english, spanish, german, french and italian must be included at least. It is supposed not to be working with shared memory videocards (I have not tested though) - so older macbooks with Intel GMA 950 or Intel GMA X 3100 are out. I have only tested it with an Intel Core 2 duo based macbook pro with an nvidia 8600 videocard. It worked beautifully in full resolution (1440x900). SampleModeling has released Mr. Sax T., its new Kontakt Player-based Tenor saxophone plug-in instrument, created by Stefano Lucato in cooperation with Giorgio Tommasini & Peter Siedlaczek. Mr. Sax T. is a sample-based virtual instrument relying on a completely new technology, developed and patent-pending by Stefano Lucato. The saxophone is probably the most difficult instrument to emulate. Despite several attempts, using different technologies ranging from traditional sampling to sophisticated physical modeling, the results obtained so far fell short of the expectations. This is particularly true if real time use is concerned. Synchronous Wave Triggering This entirely new technology was developed by Stefano Lucato when it became clear that all the previously applied approaches simply could not do. The technical name is Synchronous Wave Triggering. It uses samples as a base material, chromatically performed by a professional sax player over a very wide dynamic range, and rec! orded with state-of-the-art technology. The resulting timbre is therefore that of the real instrument. But the analogy with a sample based library ends here. The underlying, proprietary technology allows continuous interpolation among different vectors like time, dynamics, pitch and formants. Advanced real time processing techniques yield realistic legato/portamento, vibrato, ornamentations & trills with phase continuity, constant-formant pitchbends, subharmonics, growl and flutter tongue to be performed in real time.
